This is the masterpost for useful resources for website making. Feel free to suggest a new one by replying to this thread, and we'll periodically add them to this first post, for easier access. Feel free to browse this topic for all the useful links shared by others.

* Electron based applications are built to be cross platform with javascript, but because of the nature of node.js, they are by nature slower than native apps like notepad++ and sublime text. This is only an issue with opening large files. Further reading.

For misc resources (fonts/textures/graphics/etc…) there is DesignCuts, they have both paid bundles and weekly freebies, while for textures I frequently use innocentlexys, mrs-padfoot, planetsbend05, masterjinn and ex-posed. (Actually I have much more but…I'm completely reorganising my resources folders so they are a bit of a mess right now ^_^;;;).

Here are some resources I found very helpful! I make cursors, fonts, and graphics on a regular basis, so I can direct you to websites where these resources are more easily accessible!

  • W3 Validator: helps check if your HTML/CSS is valid.
  • JSFiddle: sandbox for code testing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • FileZilla: free FTP client; also does SFTP
  • FontStruct: free font website; also has a web client where you can create/edit fonts on-site!

Here are my favorite resources:

  • DynamicDrive Tools, great for all sorts of little Javascript tricks
  • TransparentTextures, for effortless tiling background textures without any hassle
  • Colllor, for quick tinkering with color palettes
  • FaceMaker, for easy avatars
  • HTML character codes, handy for copy-pasting into pages as needed
  • Bravenet, for guestbooks, polls, forums, and other things un-codey people such as myself have trouble with hand-maintaining xD
  • Google Fonts, aka MVP of most of my sites these days xD
